As someone with a history of M.E and POTS, I’ve learnt that prevention is less painful than cure. So, before I’ve even got out of bed… I’m already supporting my nervous system + setting the tone for the day to mitigate any chances of a flare ⚡️
Here’s what I do before I even stand up:
🛏️ Sleep with a Natural fibre eye mask on– total darkness = melatonin magic
🔇 Loop ear plugs – protect from sleep-disruptive noise
👄 Micropore mouth tape – encourages nasal breathing, which boosts nitric oxide (great for blood flow, immunity + nervous system calm), improves oxygen uptake, and supports deep sleep. Simple hack, powerful impact.
🌍 Grounding sheet – I sleep earthed to reduce inflammation, calm the nervous system + support circadian rhythm
🦵 Calf pumps by the bed – gets blood moving up to the heart and head. POTS-friendly at any time of the day. But especially first thing.
🧦 Compression socks on immediately – I keep them at the foot of the bed to support blood flow before standing
🌬️ Window open – fresh air flow first thing helps oxygenate my space.
🌬️ My @amazingairuk Air Purifier running gently in the background to support every breath I take at night being a clean one 🌬️
I also have ALL natural bedding and a natural fibre mattress. This shit is important!!!!
I then move to the kitchen to:
🧂 Salt water mouth rinse and gargle and tongue scrape
💧 Electrolyte water – hydration before stimulation
🥥 Oil pulling – detox support, oral microbiome, gentle ritual
✨ These tiny habits add up – before caffeine, screens or stress, I start with my body, my breath, and the basics.

What’s one thing you do before getting out of bed that supports your health?
